Highlights
Whew, what a week! You’ve been through the absolute ringer—from the adrenaline of finishing a massive project to the literal physical pain of a sore throat. It sounds like you navigated a total rollercoaster of emotions and weather.
Here are your highlights and lowlights from the week, written from your perspective:
The Highlights
The Yearbook is Finally Finished - I am so incredibly relieved that the yearbook is done. After weeks of grueling work, tears, and an endless amount of photo tagging, we finally crossed the finish line. Even though we were a bit slow getting there, seeing the final product makes all that stress worth it.
Meeting the Guest Speakers - I had a great time escorting the guest speakers to their classes. Getting to meet Mrs. Dora and learn about aero-mechanics was fascinating, especially since I got to lead the whiteboard notes while we built plant-growers. Plus, I managed to snag a cool pop socket from the Navy Federal workers and met a poet who is afraid of skydiving.
A Lucky Streak in Adopt Me - I’ve been totally obsessed with Adopt Me lately and my luck has been insane. I managed to pull off some crazy trades and landed both a fly ride Griffin and a Kitsune. It was the perfect distraction from all the school chaos.
Lowlights
The Physical Toll of Orientation Practice - Orientation practice was exhausting and honestly pretty miserable at times. I had to rehearse dancing and speaking while dealing with a sore stomach, and being forced to practice when I was cranky made it even worse. We were so rushed that I sometimes only had six or seven minutes to eat my lunch.
Dealing with a Brutal Sore Throat - I came down with a sore throat that was so painful it made me want to give up on everything. It was a huge bummer because it forced me to skip drama class since I couldn't talk or sing, which really put a damper on my week.
The Stormy Weather and Power Outage - The weather was a total mess this week with heavy rain that left the campus flooded and my shoes completely soaked. To top it off, the power went out for half the day on Friday, though I did manage to make the best of it by playing Uno and Where's Waldo with my dad and brother.
Lessons Learned
The Value of Persistence - I learned that even when a project feels like an endless cycle of grueling tasks and "tagging my life away," the sense of accomplishment at the end is worth the wait. Pushing through the slow parts of the yearbook process taught me that finishing something big requires a lot of patience, but the relief of being done is the best reward.
Flexibility Under Pressure - I realized that I can still perform and improve even when I am feeling cranky or physically drained. Practicing for orientation on a sore stomach and a tight lunch schedule was rough, but it showed me that I’m capable of being way better than I was on day one, as long as I keep showing up and doing the work.
Finding Joy in the Little Things - I discovered that having a hobby like Adopt Me is a great way to de-stress from school chaos. Scoring a fly ride Griffin and a Kitsune reminded me that a little bit of luck and a fun distraction can really turn my mood around when everything else feels overwhelming.
Connections Can Be Unexpected - Escorting the guest speakers taught me that every person has a unique story, whether it’s a poet with a fear of heights or a cool aero-mechanic. Even if I’m not a fan of the math involved, I learned that being helpful and staying engaged—like taking notes on the whiteboard—can lead to cool opportunities and even a free pop socket.
Listening to My Body - I learned the importance of prioritizing my health over my schedule. Having to skip drama because of my throat was frustrating, but it taught me that I can't give my best performance if I'm not physically well, and sometimes taking a break is the only way to recover.
Making the Best of a Bad Situation - I realized that even when the power goes out and the world is flooded, I can still have a great time. Being stuck inside without electricity turned into a fun bonding experience with my dad and brother, proving that a game of Uno or a Where's Waldo hunt can be just as entertaining as anything else.
