WB 3-7: Oops
Summary
Hi guys, so uh I completely forgot to do my last blog but guess what I'm doing as of today. A lot happened this week even though we didn't have school on Monday, and Leadership got to work during Elementary School Dance Competition on Friday. It was really fun to watch the elementary schools show off their dance moves, and I got to see my old dance teachers (Mrs. Murukami and Mrs. Olsen). I kinda glazed Holomua and it was biased because I went there, but they got second place which was great. Me and Kaleah had the job of greeting VIP guests and I was so nervous. We are still working on yearbook and brotato, office staff has been difficult because what do you mean you still don't want to take yearbook photos like come on it's just pose, boom bap, and done. The signs for cheer-off are now finished and I am so glad because holy moly, NOBODY was helping me aside from Mr. Cole, my parents, and a pinch of two others. Not to be egotistical or anything but I was always doing it and taking it home. Anyways, in math we started on our blueprint thingy for Kalauha'iha'i and uhhh, it went okay-ly but my class was a tad bit confused about what to do. I did forget my notes one day but we don't talk about that skiblidee moment at all. In Mrs. Scarborough's, I started going into a psychosis because of how overwhelming that class makes me. To all the talking and interruptions in there, the flying bugs going everywhere, the noises outside the classroom, and Mrs. Scarborough talking a lot made me go crazy. Anyways, we worked on how to do 'Step up to Writing' which I already knew how to do thanks to Ms. Miya and Mr. Cole, but whatever. The majority of the time in my even periods was just goofing around since I barely had any work to do aside from science CSA and the project for Social Studies. For ELA, we worked on the 'Master Plan' for our PBL and not to brag or anything but, heh, I was the first one done. Also, for drama, doing way better than before. I finished one of the props, heh, but that's all I'mma tell you.
Highlights + Lowlights
Highlights
Reuniting with my roots at the dance competition - It was a blast watching the elementary kids perform, and seeing my old teachers, Mrs. Murukami and Mrs. Olsen, brought back some great memories. Even if I was a little biased, I’m stoked that Holomua took second place.
Crushing my ELA and Drama goals - I felt like a total boss being the first one finished with the Master Plan for our PBL. Plus, I’m making solid progress in Drama and already finished one of my props, which feels like a huge win.
Finishing the cheer-off signs - Despite the lack of help from most of the group, I finally got those signs done with the help of Mr. Cole and my parents. I’m just glad that massive task is off my plate and ready to go.
Lowlights
Dealing with the stress of VIP greeting - Me and Kaleah were assigned to greet the VIP guests at the dance competition, and the nerves were definitely hitting me hard while we waited for them to arrive.
The absolute chaos in Mrs. Scarborough’s class - Between the constant interruptions, the bugs flying around, and the noise levels, I felt completely overwhelmed. It was honestly a lot to handle and made it really hard to stay focused.
Carrying the weight of the office staff and group work - It’s been frustrating trying to get people to just take their yearbook photos, and even more annoying that I had to do almost all the work for the cheer-off signs myself while everyone else slacked off.
Lessons Learned
Lesson 1 (Leadership & Dance) - I learned that while stepping into a high-pressure role like greeting VIPs is nerve-wracking, it’s worth it to be back in an environment that feels like home and see the people who helped me grow.
Lesson 2 (Yearbook & Cheer Signs) - I realized that if I want something done right—or done at all—I sometimes have to be the one to take initiative, even if it means carrying the workload for others to reach the finish line.
Lesson 3 (Math & Notes) - I learned that even when I have a temporary lapse in organization, I can still push through the confusion of a new project like the blueprint as long as I stay on top of the work.
Lesson 4 (Scarborough’s Class) - I discovered that I need to find better ways to tune out external chaos and repetitive instructions, especially when I already have the skills down, to keep from feeling completely overwhelmed.
Lesson 5 (Even Periods & Projects) - I learned that staying ahead of my schedule pays off, as being the first one done with my Master Plan gave me the freedom to relax and focus on my creative work in Drama.
