WB 3-4: Cheer and Fieldtrip

 WB 3-4: Cheer and Fieldtrip

Summary

Hi guys! This week has been really good and despite all the work I did this week, I somehow am not feeling stressed at all and weirdly happy??? This week, period three worked ID's and when I worked, for some reason not as many people bought ID's which was pretty shocking due to the sheer amount of people who lose their ID's. Also, I may or may not have a lot of uh, pending assignments I have to turn in as of now. One from Science, one from Math, one from Social Studies, and one from Explore Wheel but that's okay-- nothing I can't handle (well, I think). Basically all I got to do is read, write, and study for all of them which is simple enough. Anyways, drama has been pretty good as well. We started rehearsing while standing up and I think for the first attempt, we did well. I have yet to get any of the items on the prop list, lels. So far, the cheer for 7-3 has been going. . . okay-ly since some students can't quite get down the first moves and really, I don't blame them, but some aren't ACTUALLY making an effort. Anyways, my odd periods have been going pretty well. In leadership we worked on orientation and a bit of yearbook; in Explore Wheel, we put in our journal entries for the day and did a critical read; and finally, math. I was a bit anxious for the test we had to do since I kept thinking I was gonna get a bad score AND I uh, didn't study. Together for me is a big mix of failure and really made me overthink. Anyways, my even periods were also not that bad. For ELA, I was really procrastinating on the third ahupua'a we had to do this year and turned it in the last day it was due so yay, and we kept working on the PBL. For Social Studies, we took some notes on a video about, uh, I forgot, and have to do Instagram posts (not actual ones, just on Google slides). And lastly, Science. The Science leaders for PBL went on a field and, heh, I was one of them. The ride to the site was a bit long and I was glad I sat by Brent because he's my friend and we were just chilling while around us was chaos. All we did was take notes, pictures, videos, did some activities, eat our lunches, have thirty minutes to do random stuff, and finally leave. Okay, I made it sound pretty boring but it was really fun. You get to hang out with many of your friends despite the setting supposed to be serious and really, it was a beautiful place. Overall, this week was a really great one!

Highlights + Lowlights

Highlights

The Science Field Trip - Being chosen as a PBL leader was a huge win. Even though the bus ride was chaotic, chilling with Brent made it fun, and getting to explore such a beautiful site with my friends was definitely the peak of my week.

Drama Rehearsals - We finally transitioned to rehearsing on our feet! For our first attempt at standing rehearsals, I think we did a really solid job, and the energy is starting to feel right.

A Stress-Free Mindset - Despite having a massive workload and a bunch of responsibilities, I’ve managed to stay surprisingly happy and calm. I feel like I can handle what’s on my plate without the usual burnout.

Lowlights

The Looming To-Do List - I have four pending assignments across Science, Math, Social Studies, and the Explore Wheel. While I’m confident I can finish them, having that much "reading, writing, and studying" hanging over my head is a bit much.

Math Test Anxiety - I went into my math test feeling pretty unprepared because I didn't study. That mix of overthinking and the fear of failure definitely messed with my head and made me anxious during the period.

Cheer Practice Struggles - Leading the 7-3 cheer has been a bit frustrating. While some people are just struggling with the moves, others aren't putting in any effort at all, which makes it hard to get the momentum we need.

Lessons Learned

Lesson 1; Mindset and Workload - I learned that my mental state doesn't always have to be a reflection of my to-do list. Even with four pending assignments and the chaos of ID sales, I can choose to stay happy and calm. I’ve realized that as long as I view tasks as simple actions like reading and writing, they feel much more manageable and a lot less intimidating.

Lesson 2; Performance and Preparation - I’ve learned that progress in creative projects, like drama and cheer, depends on both physical transition and group effort. While I can celebrate the win of getting our drama rehearsals on their feet, I also have to accept that I can’t force effort out of others in cheer. Most importantly, I realized that skipping study sessions for math leads to a mental spiral of overthinking that is way more stressful than the actual test.

Lesson 3; Engagement and Environment - I learned that the people I surround myself with can completely change my experience of a long day. Sitting with a good friend like Brent turned a long, chaotic bus ride into a chill hangout. I also realized that school projects and field trips are way more enjoyable when I'm actively leading and taking in the beauty of my surroundings rather than just treating it like a serious chore.

Magic Note

I chose to include this magic note from Ariya in my blog because it perfectly validates the effort I’ve been putting into my leadership roles this week. While I felt like things were just okay-ly or moving slowly with projects like yearbook, orientation, and my peer interviews, Ariya’s note reminds me that my hard work is actually being noticed and appreciated by others. Receiving this on January 21st serves as a great physical reminder that even when I feel a bit of failure or anxiety over my workload, I am actually handling this difficult quarter very well. It ties my whole week together by proving that my "weirdly happy" and stress-free mindset is paying off, and it encourages me to keep up the great work as I tackle my pending assignments and upcoming rehearsals.
