WB 2-9: Pretty pretty fun

 WB 2-9: Pretty pretty fun

Summary

Hi-hi, new blog this week! Surprisingly, it wasn't as bad as the others which was a huge relief. I feel bad for Mr. Cole since he was pretty sick (he got me sick too), so I hope he feels better. I finished my critical read for his class, but didn't finish the essay nor the exhibit board yet, heh. Ms. Miya's has been the same-- just sitting in class playing minesweeper while everyone else is going crazy. I'm kinda scared to see my grade for the Cellular Respiration CSA because Ms. Arakawa said that everyone went down at least one letter grade and that made me die a little inside. But other than that, everything is going smoothly. We've been pretty much just working on Diagnostic in Ms. Chen's class, though we've spent four days on it. How are people still not done? Art class has been fun, although Ms. Coury has also been sick. I am making a frog-themed house, which will be fun. In period three, me and my group FINALLY finished Peep Div after like, days. We also took pictures of staff, and I'll be editing those pictures. In drama, we finally got our roles and I got Lydia, who I happily accepted. Although the songs she sings require lots of high notes, I don't mind it. At least I didn't get Otho, lol. One of the days when we had drama, we had to wait until Ms. Amelia's meeting was over and barely any people came because they were choir and had a performance. Another fun thing that happened this week was ISA bowling. It was basically a competition between schools and at first I was a bit nervous, but I quickly got over it and had lots of fun bowling with my friends. I even brought my squid plush named Carl. The same day, I stayed during the last period to help with cover, which basically meant that I had a free day with no periods. I feel bad since I already skipped some classes to work on Peep Div, but I guess my teachers don't care that much since they don't seem to be mad at me for missing their classes. This week, me and period three worked on music. Some of us made some mistakes, but they learned their lesson. Oh and, I also injured the joint of my ring finger because of the way I was holding the bowling balls. It hurt so bad even a gust of wind made it sting. Never doing that again. Other than that, this week has been both relaxing and fun.

Highlight + Lowlight

Highlights

Finally finishing Peep Div with my group - This was a huge relief and a significant highlight because we had been working on this project for what felt like ages. Getting it done means a major task is off my plate, and now I can focus on editing the staff pictures we took.

Participating in ISA bowling with my friends - It was a genuinely fun and memorable event. Even though I was nervous at first, I quickly got over it and had a blast competing and hanging out with my friends—Carl (my squid plush) even came along! It was a great break from schoolwork.

Getting the role of Lydia in drama class - I happily accepted the role of Lydia! I enjoy the part, and even though the songs require a lot of high notes, I don't mind the challenge. I'm just relieved I didn't get stuck with Otho, which makes the whole experience exciting and positive.

Lowlights

Worrying about my Cellular Respiration CSA grade - This is definitely a lowlight because Ms. Arakawa warned us that everyone went down at least one letter grade. That news made me feel terrible and deeply worried about how it will affect my overall grade in her class.

Injuring my ring finger joint while bowling - The pain was significant—it hurt so bad that even a light breeze made it sting. It was a painful consequence of an otherwise fun activity, and it makes me regret how I held the bowling balls, marking it as a physically painful lowlight.

Mr. Cole and Ms. Coury being sick and getting sick myself - It's tough seeing two of my teachers sick, and it's even worse that Mr. Cole's sickness spread to me. Being sick makes it harder to focus and generally lowers the mood, which is why it stands out as a negative part of the week.

Lessons learned

Academic and Project Management Lesson Learned - I learned that proactive effort pays off in project relief, but major assignments still loom large. Finishing the critical read felt great, but the relief of finally completing Peep Div with my group was immense and reminded me how good it feels to get a huge task done. However, I still need to apply that focus to the unfinished essay and exhibit board for Mr. Cole's class. The key takeaway is that finishing a few big projects, like Peep Div, frees up mental space, but I need to be careful not to let the remaining large assignments, like the essay, pile up.

Social and Extracurricular Lesson Learned - I learned that stepping outside my comfort zone to participate leads to genuine fun and memorable experiences. The ISA bowling competition initially made me nervous, but pushing past that initial worry resulted in having a fantastic time with my friends (and Carl!). Likewise, even though the songs for my new role as Lydia in drama are challenging, I happily accepted the part. This week proved that the effort to participate and embrace new roles, even with slight anxiety or high notes involved, makes school much more enjoyable than just playing Minesweeper in class.

Health and Awareness Lesson Learned - I learned that a moment of carelessness can lead to surprising consequences, especially regarding health and injury. The biggest wake-up call was definitely the pain in my ring finger joint from the way I held the bowling balls—that sting was a harsh lesson that I need to be mindful of how I physically handle things. On the health side, getting sick after Mr. Cole was sick taught me how quickly sickness can spread, which combined with the worry over the plummeting CSA grades, showed me that I need to prioritize physical well-being and academic consistency to avoid unnecessary pain or stress.

Magic Note

This note is incredibly relevant to my week because it speaks directly to the effort and stress I was under. The note says that I am hardworking and that my work and contribution will get me far. This encouragement really hits home because I spent days finally finishing Peep Div and skipped classes to work on it, showing that I've been intensely focused on my contributions. The note also says I need to take breaks sometime, which is a perfect piece of advice considering how much I was stressing over the Cellular Respiration CSA grade and getting sick after Mr. Cole was ill, indicating I might be overdoing it. Ultimately, this note from Sultan is a great affirmation that all the hard work I put into projects this week, like editing staff photos and practicing for my Lydia role, hasn't gone unnoticed, even if I need to remember to slow down sometimes.
