WB 2-3π: Spooky Scary Skibidi's
WB 2-3π: Spooky Scary Skibidi's
Summary
I had a fun week this week. This week, me and my leadership group worked on music. Though the GT's were observing us since they didn't observe how to do music yet, my GT was unfortunately sick, so she didn't get the opportunity to watch how to set up or work the music board. But, it's okay since she'll get a chance to observe another time. The iPad was unbelievably slow playing the songs, and we had to close the app multiple times to get it to work. We are also starting to work on Yearbook, to which my group is working on the 'Staff' section. This means that we have to work on making pages about the staff in this school. Me and my group finished note-taking for the NHD project in social studies, so that was a good thing. The boy in our group took longer than necessary to finish his parts, but at least he finished eventually. Next time we get our even periods, we will start working on the background of whatever revolution we picked. In ELA, we had a substitute teacher all week, but she was kind and the assignments given were very easy to do. All we did was read, highlight, go on Google classroom, and did a bit of artwork. In science, the assignments were also easy, but of course, the class was loud as hell. In art, we had a substitute on Thursday, but he was nice and we watched a video that we had to answer questions on. In math, the lessons were easy to understand but my classmate was being annoying. He kept talking to me, and everything that could go wrong went wrong. I stitched my homework upside down, I ripped my homework terribly, and there was this constant ticking noise someone was making and it drove me insane. And finally, leadership was the best class because my members aren't annoying, and it's chill there. But most importantly, it was Halloween on Friday. My costume was a frog, and I went trick-or-treating with my huzz who dressed up as Obanai from Demon Slayer. I loved trick-or-treating and walking around, but my huzz got tired from walking easily so I went home after two hours. In drama, we watched a movie called "Matilda", which was a musical instead of the original movie. I kind of liked it, but the students around me ruined the experience since they were so loud and kept moving. Ms. Amelia did reveal that next week, we will be able to find out what play we are going to do, and we are able to audition for any of the roles.
Highlights + Lowlights
Highlights
- Halloween Fun: I had a great time trick-or-treating in my frog costume with your friend (huzz) who dressed as Obanai from Demon Slayer, even though the outing was a little shorter than I might have liked.
- Positive Classes: My ELA assignments were easy and my substitute was kind, and my leadership class was described as the "best" because my members aren't annoying and it's a chill environment.
- NHD Project Milestone: me and my group finished note-taking for the NHD project in social studies, allowing me to move on to the next step of working on the background of our chosen revolution.
Lowlights
- Technical Difficulties with Music: The iPad was "unbelievably slow" during your music work, requiring you to close the app multiple times to get the songs to play.
- Disruptive Classroom Experiences: You had to deal with a loud class in science and an annoying classmate in math who kept talking to you, which contributed to you making mistakes like stitching your homework upside down and ripping it.
- Drama Movie Disturbance: The experience of watching the "Matilda" musical movie in drama class was ruined by the students around you who were loud and kept moving.
Lessons learned
- On Music and Yearbook: I learned that technical problems, like the incredibly slow iPad, are unavoidable, so I need to have a backup plan or dedicate extra time when relying on technology for group work. As we start the Yearbook staff section, I need to prioritize organization to manage a large project.
- On NHD Social Studies: I learned that while group work can test my patience, especially when waiting for members to complete their parts, the real win is finishing a major milestone like note-taking. Now, I can fully shift my focus to the new, exciting phase of background research.
- On ELA, Science, and Art: I realized that having easy assignments during a substitute teacher's presence is great because it reduces stress, but I still need to practice tuning out chaotic environments (like the loud science class) so I can maintain concentration on the work, regardless of the class volume.
- On Math: I learned just how much distractions can derail my focus, causing me to make silly physical mistakes like ripping my homework or stitching it upside down. Next time, I need to actively find ways to block out the noise and limit conversations so I can work more accurately.
- On Leadership and Halloween: I confirmed that the calm, functional environment of Leadership class helps me thrive, and when it comes to fun events like Halloween, I need to appreciate the moment I have, even if the experience is cut short, because those memories are still great.
- On Drama: I learned to look past the minor frustrations of disruptive classmates during passive activities, because the bigger opportunity—finding out about the new play and preparing to audition for roles—is just around the corner and requires my attention and enthusiasm.
