WB 1-5🍍: WHAT THE DINGUS

This week was stressful and exhausting. This week had more assignments than any other week so far, so I was working extra hard and it tired me out for the week. Leadership was working flag football again, and it mostly sucked because it was hot outside and more than one wasp kept flying around the field which made everyone scared. The same thing happened in science class— where everyone was being loud and obnoxious, and I felt bad for Ms. Arakawa, alongside the students who actually wanted to learn, for having to deal with us. Another thing this week was drama club afterschool on Tuesday and Thursday. We didn’t do much, since those two days were about memorizing monologues, but it was still fun and we got to spend some time in I104 to look at old costumes from earlier years. This week, my leadership period worked ID’s. The job was easy to do since all we had to do was make sure they had money, type in their last name on the computer, print out the ID, write down their name on the envelope sheet, and give them the ID. Simple as that. Though a lot of people keep losing their ID’s, I’m fine with it and I only write their name down on the sheet of paper and put the money inside the envelope.

Highlights + Lowlights

Highlights

  • Going to art class - One of the highlights of my week was going to art class. Again, Ms. Coury is very nice and her assignments are all easy. I enjoy drawing, and also eavesdropping on whatever conversations I hear on my table.
  • Going home after school - Another highlight of my week was getting to go home after school. After being stressed and tired, I get to relax at home without worrying about anything else and can take a nap.
  • Going to the drama club - A third highlight of my week was going to drama club after school. Memorizing the monologue I chose only took me a couple of minutes, and I had fun being with everyone else in that club.

Lowlights

  • Flag football - The day of flag football on Friday was a disaster. People didn't turn on their walkies, someone forgot their vest in A101, and we got in trouble for not telling the ref that there were three minutes left in the game.
  • Science class (again) - I don't know why, but every time I go to science class my happiness drops to the floor because people are being obnoxious, aren't listening to Ms. Arakawa when she's talking, and we couldn't use our notes in a quiz since they keep talking.
  • Math class - For some reason, I can't seem to understand some of the pre-algebra questions because every time we take notes, people sitting next to me are whispering to each other and their heads are blocking the board, so I barely understand anything.
Highlights: Lessons Learned

Art Class: The value of finding activities you genuinely enjoy. A lesson learned here is that when you're engaged in something you like, the experience feels effortless, and you can find pleasure even in small moments, like eavesdropping on conversations.

Going Home After School: The importance of having a safe and comfortable space to decompress. Recognizing the need for rest and a place to relax is crucial for managing stress and recharging your mental and emotional batteries.

Drama Club: The power of passion. A key lesson is that when you're motivated and enjoy what you're doing, tasks that might seem difficult or time-consuming can be completed with ease. It also shows the benefit of being with people who share your interests.

Lowlights: Lessons Learned

Flag Football: The importance of effective communication and clear instructions. The lesson learned is that when working in a group, a lack of communication (like people not turning on their walkies) or disorganization can lead to frustrating outcomes and negative consequences for the whole team.

Science Class: The impact of your environment on your ability to learn and feel comfortable. The lesson learned is that an ideal learning environment requires cooperation and respect from everyone. When others are disruptive, it can directly harm your ability to focus and succeed.

Math Class: The importance of taking control of your learning environment. The lesson here is that you can't always rely on others to be considerate. Sometimes, you need to proactively find solutions, like asking to move to a different seat or speaking to your teacher about the distractions.
